How many access points does a UAE villa actually need?

4 min read

Villa WiFi is a different problem from apartment WiFi. Thick concrete construction, multiple floors, and gardens or majlis areas outside the main structure all cut into coverage in ways a single router was never designed to handle.

Floor count matters more than square footage

WiFi signal loses strength passing through floors even more than through interior walls. A two or three-floor villa typically needs at least one access point per floor, positioned centrally, rather than relying on a router on the ground floor to cover bedrooms two levels up.

Outdoor spaces need their own plan

Gardens, pools, majlis rooms, and driveways are usually an afterthought in WiFi planning, and it shows. If you want reliable coverage outdoors, that typically means either a dedicated outdoor-rated access point or a node placed near an exterior wall or window facing the area you use most.

What a proper site survey looks like

We walk the villa floor by floor, measure signal at the points that matter most (bedrooms, home office, outdoor seating), and place access points based on actual readings rather than a fixed formula. Most villas need three to five access points; very few need more than that if they're placed correctly.
