How many door and window sensors does a villa actually need?

Sensor count is planned from a villa's actual entry points and layout, not a flat number per bedroom or square footage, which is why we don't quote a fixed sensor count without a walk-through.

Ground-floor entry points come first

Every ground-floor door and window is a realistic entry point and typically gets a sensor first, before upper floors are even considered.

Upper floors matter more than people expect

Balconies and accessible upper windows near trees, walls, or adjoining structures are still realistic entry points in many villa layouts, not just decoration to be skipped over.

Motion detectors fill the gaps sensors alone miss

Interior motion sensors catch movement past a point that somehow wasn't covered by a door or window sensor, a useful backstop rather than a replacement for entry-point coverage.

Why more sensors isn't always better

Over-sensoring a low-risk interior space, a highly trafficked family room where pets or kids constantly trigger motion, creates false-alarm fatigue. The real skill is covering real entry points without oversaturating high-traffic interior areas.

What we do on a walk-through

We walk every entry point at ground and upper level, decide where motion detection genuinely adds value, and give a sensor count and price based on the actual property, not a guess.

Frequently asked questions

Do all bedrooms need window sensors?

Only ground-floor or realistically accessible upper-floor windows. Interior bedrooms with no external access point typically don't need one.

Are motion detectors a replacement for door and window sensors?

No, they're a backstop for gaps, not a substitute for covering actual entry points directly.

Can too many sensors cause problems?

Yes, oversaturating high-traffic areas with motion detection leads to false-alarm fatigue, which defeats the system's purpose.
