Hikvision vs Ezviz vs Eufy: which camera brand is right for your home?

All three are solid, well-established brands, the right choice depends more on your specific setup and priorities than any brand being universally 'better.' The mistake we see most often isn't picking a bad brand, it's picking one brand for the whole property when the actual right answer is a mix suited to what each part of the job needs.
Hikvision
Strong for full property CCTV systems: wired, PoE-powered, NVR-based setups with no subscription. Best fit when you want comprehensive coverage installed properly once, rather than individually managed standalone cameras. Because power and data run over a single cable to each camera, there's no battery to think about and no subscription required for local recording, which makes it a strong choice for entry points you want to just work reliably for years without maintenance.
The tradeoff is installation complexity: wired systems need cable runs planned and installed, which is more work upfront than a standalone wireless camera, but that upfront work is what buys the reliability and lack of ongoing cost.
Ezviz
Known particularly for video doorbell locks that combine a smart lock with a doorbell camera in one device. A good fit if door-level security and access control together is the priority, rather than whole-property camera coverage. This category, lock plus camera in one unit, is genuinely useful for a specific problem: managing who can get in while also seeing who's trying to.
Ezviz also makes standalone wire-free cameras similar in concept to Eufy's lineup, so the brand isn't limited to just doorbell locks, but that combined lock-and-camera device is where it stands out most clearly from the other two.
Eufy
Strong in wire-free and solar-powered standalone cameras, good for spots where running a cable isn't practical, like a side gate or a garden corner, with local storage and no subscription on most models. The solar panel option in particular solves a real problem, a camera at the far end of a garden or an outbuilding that would otherwise need either frequent battery swaps or an impractical cable run.
The tradeoff versus a wired system is that battery-powered cameras need occasional attention (checking charge, cleaning solar panels of dust, which accumulates faster in the UAE than most climates), and wireless connection quality depends on WiFi signal actually reaching that spot reliably.
How to actually decide, room by room rather than brand by brand
Rather than picking one brand for the whole property, it's more useful to match brand strength to each specific spot. Front door where reliability matters most and cabling is straightforward: Hikvision wired, or an Ezviz doorbell lock if combining entry control with the camera is a priority. Side gate, garden corner, or anywhere a cable run is impractical: Eufy's wire-free or solar options. Driveway or main entry points where you want zero ongoing maintenance: wired Hikvision.
What we don't recommend doing
Choosing a single brand purely because a promotion or bundle deal makes it slightly cheaper, without matching it to what each specific spot on your property actually needs, is the most common way people end up with a camera that's inconvenient to maintain (a wired camera location a cable genuinely couldn't reach without major work) or under-featured for its job (standard infrared at a front door where identifying visitors' faces actually matters).
Our honest take
We install and support all three because each is genuinely better suited to different parts of the same job. Most villas end up with a mix: wired Hikvision cameras at key entry points, an Eufy solar camera somewhere a cable run isn't practical, and an Ezviz doorbell lock at the front door. We'll recommend that mix on a site visit rather than pushing whichever brand happens to be in stock.
